Yamaguchi and K’maj Fleet Ships

To continue our celebration of Star Trek Online’s 3-Year Anniversary, we will soon be releasing Fleet Variants of the recently-introduced Ambassador and Kamarag class starships. This Thursday, February 14th, each will become available to Fleets that have acquired a Tier 3 Shipyard, and will cost 20,000 Fleet Credits and four (4) Fleet Modules to obtain.
Fleet Support Cruiser Retrofit
The Yamaguchi variant of the Ambassador Class Cruiser has been specifically designed to support your Fleet. Fleet Starships are built to the highest standard and have increased Hull Hit Points, Shield Strength and an additional Console slot. In comparison to its non-Fleet counterpart, it boasts a Lieutenant Universal station, in lieu of a Lieutenant Engineering station, and an additional Science Console slot.
In addition to these stat upgrades, the Fleet version of the Support Cruiser Retrofit will come default with a Yamaguchi configuration variant (in addition to being able to use the Ambassador design configuration), as well as a unique Fleet Material.

journey56 @ Feb 28th, 2013 8:46AM
The Klingon version definitely needs more hull strength. The Fed version has nearly double that. Another thought, can all fed ships come with a base torpedo launcher as transphasic, instead of photon. its just photons are a bit weak in kinetic damage.
mattewg11 @ Feb 22nd, 2013 12:52PM
how do get it?
borgressistance @ Feb 15th, 2013 6:10AM
the fleet ambassedor got almost the same hull points as a dreadnought carrier, wich make's this fleet ship way overpowered, they need to reduce the hull,or make the dreadnought carrier and oddy cruiser better with increased hull.
zuigje010
Almost! imo let it be like it is, nerf it and no one wants 1.
sanokskyrat
They will be coming out with a Fleet versions of both the Dreadnought (AKA Galaxy X) and the Oddy. So problem solved.
johann2112 @ Feb 14th, 2013 6:00PM
Just a thought, why not make a Galaxy-class skin available for use on the Ambassador-class? Seems an easy way to settle dissatisfaction with the existing Galaxy. Could use the justification that the Ambassadors were upgraded to Galaxy specs.
theillusivenman @ Feb 14th, 2013 5:16PM
Thank you Cryptic. Personally I like the fleet variants of the free ships, and out of this two, K'maj seems considerably better optimized by specs. Cheers.
sololionman65 @ Feb 14th, 2013 3:59PM
I like the Ambassador, but it would be nice to see its turn rate be bumped up by 1 point. The difference in hull strength between it and the Klingon version doesn't justify how much quicker the Klingon ship can go. Then again, I think most of the fed cruisers could do well with a 1 bump. Love the console slot layout though, and the universal boff. Finally... can I just ask if we're done seeing ships going into the c-store... and all we'll see are Fleet Ships? $20-25 is a pretty fair price when we get a ship account wide.... but buying the same ships over again for other characters is making me a lot less likely to buy them in the first place. I don't have a problem spending money, but buying the same thing twice is kind of a downer. I'd rather pay $30-40 for fleet-ship caliber ships in the c-store than the modules, since I have a bunch of characters, or have the option of buying more c-store versions of ships and only have to buy 1 module per extra character.
moonlander69 @ Feb 14th, 2013 3:07AM
i see that you all can play sto, when well rest of us will be able to play ,i have been able to play since janury i am a _3 year member??!!!
korzan1
Its been free to play for awhile. You can play -.-
paragon92518 @ Feb 13th, 2013 10:17PM
I don't know why I'm bothering to waste my breath, (it's not like the Devs care), however some of them did ask for feedback on the Ambassador, so my advice simply is: Please 1 the turn rate and I think the ship gets a thumbs UP. The Excelsior would still have better DPS output, but the Ambassador would just be a utility. That 1 is a HUGE difference, and most players would notice if swap between an Excelsior and an Ambassador.
breadandcircuses
I agree about the turn rate on the Ambassador class in general. I was greatly disappointed when I saw the stats, especially given the information mentioned in the "Technical data" section here: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Ambassador_class Just saying, there is canonical justification to it turning better than it does at this point.
sirokk @ Feb 13th, 2013 12:14PM
Should have skins for both the Yamaguchi, Probert... and... maybe... (wait for it...) A skin for the Constitution-class then we can have a T5 Connie! *slap* *ouch*
general1devon
no, just no
sololionman65
I wouldn't mind seeing a Fleet version of the connie in the game, but they'd really have to improve the turn rate to justify having a much lower HP count than other fleet cruisers. It should be higher to begin with, like a 10-12. Some people don't like the idea of 'older' ships being in the game as viable, but personally, I think it's pretty much possible for any ship to be retrofitted to being viable. Throw on an advanced warp core for more power, stronger hull materials, advanced equipment, etc. and a Connie could pretty much be a differently skinned Intrepid if Starfleet wanted, since they're about the same size.
harbingerzero @ Feb 13th, 2013 10:52AM
"Personally, the T3 should have been the Ambassador, T5 the Yamaguchi, and Fleet the Probert design." QFT
britewolf
Agreed!
robertjenkins @ Feb 13th, 2013 9:01AM
great looking ship(s) but the Probert version would be great as a heavy tactical cruiser..! we could call it the Probert-Class. give it fore and aft wide-angle torpedoes and a phaser array lotus.... by the way, when and how do you enter the starship design contest?
ultimusmagus
You forgot to ask Disney for permission to tow a Death Star via tractor beam while you're at it.
pandastarnc @ Feb 13th, 2013 8:14AM
Natejam101 the fleet variant also has 2K more hull points then my Ambassador refit so that makes it almost worth the 4 fleet modules I have horded back almost.
hesht @ Feb 13th, 2013 6:50AM
I hope someone names their Yamaguchi class ship Anamanaguchi. They would be awesome.
helvetiamatt81
why?
hesht
@helvetiamatt81 They're a cool band and it sounds similar :)
hartzilla @ Feb 13th, 2013 5:54AM
Wait I thought the 2360s upgraded version of the Ambassador was called the Zhukov, or are they calling it the Yamaguchi becuase it retroactively showed up first.
robertjenkins
the true first upgrade i think was the Ambassador Class USS EXCALIBUR.
goldendharmny @ Feb 12th, 2013 7:46PM
Dose this means the T5 will got in the Z-Store for 1500?
wolfpacknz
Didn't they say the T5 was limited time only and won't be going to the store?
general1devon
wolf is righ
bresali @ Feb 12th, 2013 7:41PM
When are we getting the fleet version of the assault cruiser? I don't want to use the refit version since it doesn't have the Lt.Cmdr Eng Boff slot.
daemoncaptrix
Unfortunately for you, the Fleet Assault Cruiser Refit has the same boff slots as the Regent.
ahilles7
Fleet Assault cruiser is already in the game. You only need to have tier 5 starbase to get it. Plus if you don't like refit variant you won't like Fleet variant because of same boff layout.
sander233 @ Feb 12th, 2013 7:30PM
Oh, this is where that horrible whining noise is coming coming from. I thought maybe the airport had routed departure traffic over my house. But its not jets taking off, its just another pair of new ships. Carry on.
ultimusmagus
Nicely done lol.
bunansa @ Feb 12th, 2013 7:17PM
once again Romulans get screwed and get no ship at all.....just had to throw this out there to prove a point.
captainmerzan
what r u talking about, how can the romulans get screwed when there is no romulan faction, duuuaaaaa
ultimusmagus
Someone's been smoking eppoh waste.
theagoeb @ Feb 12th, 2013 6:45PM
I'm not getting all these complaint posts. They just made something available and wrote a post letting us know. That's cool with me. Keep up the awesome shiny things guys.
swellgrim @ Feb 12th, 2013 6:00PM
I aways like to see new ships and hope for new content, but still no new faction...
captaingunslayer
Hey it will come in may
sololionman65
Is the game really crying out for a new faction? Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of playable Romulans or Cardassians, etc. etc. etc., but it's a LOT of work to make a faction viable -- as we've seen with Klingons, which even Cryptic admits *still* isn't up to par --- and what do we get? If a second faction were so valuable, why does it take forever to queue up as a Klingon, especially for pvp? Where are they all? Personally, while I'd like to see more factions, I think it would be worse to release a bad faction than it would be to not release another one at all. Perhaps a better idea would be to allow playable Romulans, Remans, etc. and allow them to join one of the other factions, with perhaps some access to Romulan ships.
natejam101 @ Feb 12th, 2013 4:09PM
Strange and irritating at the same time..the free version and the fleet variants are the exact same design, just a different color...very creative and worth my money.
bekstorm0cz
Clear your eyes man and then look cerefully
natejam101
My eyes are clear sir, the ship is no different than the free level 40 RA version..like I said before, different color does not count.
natejam101
Instead of the front end of the Nacells being all red, the top and bottom portion are grey now..that is a different color. Thanks
bridgern
This will show you the difference between the Ambassador and the Ambassador Refit http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/ambassador.htm
natejam101
I am not talking about the Ambassador and Ambassador Refit..Im talking about the Ambassador Refit and the FLeet version..no difference except for color on nacells and hull.
natejam101
Hmm even from that site u linked, sure looks identical to me, some color differences, but thats it.
misterde3
I think you missed the point: The T3 and T5 Ambassador (the retrofit) only have the basic Enterprise-C look. Only the Fleet Version gets the TNG-Style refitted look (with the nacelle caps, the shortened pylons, the new deflector, the added shuttlebay) bridgern linked.
bayonettawiccan @ Feb 12th, 2013 3:50PM
The KDF gets shafted again. The hull strength is weaker on it.
natejam101
Weaker hull yes..but way better turn rate, it can equip cannons..what the problem?
natejam101
Not to mention the Klink version has more weapon power, and more engine power bonus too
theindefatigable
Don't forget the integral cloaking ability
chalpen @ Feb 12th, 2013 2:34PM
Nice ship. I may buy it
captsol @ Feb 12th, 2013 2:27PM
There's probably some reason they can't give us the Probert. Like CBS didn't have the rights or something since it was only concept art.
captaind3
Agreed. But I'm holding out hope. Maybe it will be a C-Store skin, like the Venture, cause that ship is beautiful. We should hold out hope, after all, they finally got he Vesta in game, and it was good.
redfriar @ Feb 12th, 2013 2:09PM
When will tiers 1 and 2 get some love? it seems everything interesting starts at tier 3... which is hard for a small fleet.
naval10
Agree, I sing on.
sololionman65
The tier 1 and 2 fleet ships wouldn't be so bad... if they didn't cost the same number of modules as 3, 4 and 5. Either they should be bumped up considerably, or cost half the modules... but I guess that's a different topic for a different time. (Though, Cryptic, if you're listening... I'd definitely buy them if t1 and t2 only cost 2 modules, since they're pretty... but 4 is out of the question since they would be purely for cosmetic purposes. LOL.)
breadandcircuses
Wholeheartedly agree with the idea to have the Module cost of a ship actually relate to the tier of that ship. I like the Tor'Kaht, and might get that at Tier II, but that's pretty much all I have an interest in as far as Fleet ships until the higher Tiers, be it Fed or Klingon.
