New Tholian Lock Box and Lobi Ships

THOLIAN SHIPS
Recent conflicts with the Tholian Assembly have resulted in a handful of captured Tholian vessels. Tholian technology is very different from other Alpha Quadrant powers, and these vessels are prized as opportunities for study as well as new combat vessels. The Tholians' natural environment is hostile to most humanoids, and their ship interiors were designed to support that environment. Much effort has gone into simply modifying the interiors to let personnel board these vessels without environmental suits.
Tholian Orb Weaver
The Tholian Orb Weaver may be obtained in the Tholian Lock Box.
The Tholian Orb Weaver is essentially a very large, advanced Science Vessel. Bridge Officer stations favor science, although there is a Lieutenant Commander Universal Bridge Officer station. As a Science Vessel, it is capable of Subsystem Targeting as well as Sensor Analysis. The Orb Weaver, of course, comes with a Tholian Web Generator console. This console allows you to create an energy web around your target, capturing and eventually crushing them. The Tholian Web Generator can be equipped in any console slot, but only on the Tholian Orb Weaver or the Tholian Recluse Carrier.
The Tholian Orb Weaver also comes with a Thermionic Torpedo Launcher. Thermionic Torpedoes are capable of draining the target's Weapon and Engine Subsystems with each hit, reducing its damage output and speed temporarily.

The Tholian Recluse Carrier comes standard with 2 hangar bays of Tholian Widow Fighters. Widow fighters are armed with Tetryon Beams and Quantum Torpedoes. The Widows are also designed to work with the Recluse's Tetryon Grid Console. This console creates a grid of Tetryon Energy that buffs ally energy damage and causes your Tholian Widow Fighters to reflect 2 Tetryon beam attacks at nearby enemy targets. Tholian Widow Fighters and the Tetryon Grid Console may only be equipped on the Tholian Recluse Carrier. The console may be placed in any console slot.
The Tholian Recluse Carrier comes with a Thermionic Torpedo Launcher. MIRROR UNIVERSE SHIPS
Tholian incursions into the alternate dimension known as the "Mirror Universe" have resulted in ships being brought back for study. Starfleet and the Klingon Defense Force have obtained several of these vessels and found them fit for frontline duty with minimal modifications.

Mirror Universe Assault Cruiser
The Mirror Universe Assault Cruiser looks more like our Prime Universe Star Cruiser, but has more of a tactical advantage in Bridge Officer Seating and Console Configuration. It is only available to Federation captains and may be obtained in the Tholian Lock Box.

O.k I have a problem.. I won a "Mirror Star Cruiser" But its an 'Assault Cruiser" Now, to make things worse,I tried to customize the nacelles only, Now it's a "Sovereign Assault Cruisers" which is O.K. but my "Mirror textures" are gone!!!! WHAT can I do to get the Mirror universe textures back(Costume).. Help!
voyagerseven
Oops ! sorry for the post here.Turns out, I logged off and back in, and now the Mirror option is available.. ;-)
omen29379 @ Aug 5th, 2012 12:10AM
I just got my Mirror Star Cruiser and frankly, I love it. I've always been a Sovvie fan and, to me at least, the extra Science slot makes a world of difference in terms of shield healing and survivability. The other ships look great too. The only beef I have is that, IMO, the Recluse is overpriced. 500-600LCs? Yes. 800LCS? No.
xxxseadog117xxx @ Aug 2nd, 2012 4:01PM
I really want that Recluse Carrier! Just one question, how do you get Lobi crystals? If anyone knows, please reply.
brackynews
I was this close to /doublefacepalm, but then I checked and you're right, the article doesn't mention that simple aspect at all of where they come from. O_o The answer of course, is that they come from lockboxes. But you should do yourself a favour and check the in-game exchange listings as well.
shomyboy
You can buy it for EC like I did. It is a Great ship. Get one and enjoy. :)
daharmasterklag @ Jul 25th, 2012 3:56AM
These mirror ships are all meh... basically all you are getting is a token alt skin for your ships, not worth the expense of the key to open the box. The Mirror Vor'Cha swapped a 1 power tac ensign for 1 power sci ensign whoop de doo, not exactly anything to get worked up for IMO, if it had a Commander or Lt. Commander sci slot then I would get interested. As far as the Tholian ships go they do nothing for me personally. Everything in this game is becoming work, grind for this grind for that... it's not a game anymore it's become a job that my real world job has to pay for to get anywhere. Blah.
kibarunner17
i totally understand but i hope one day they will compinsate us somehow lol
r3ad2
I got mine and have been using it ever since, and it was cheap too
ijsrog @ Jul 20th, 2012 1:53PM
I think most Klingon ships actually did appear before STO not just the B'Rel.
oldjerseydevil @ Jul 20th, 2012 1:03AM
I like the Orb Weaver with it's Sci jazz and the Universal Bridge Station. Think that boat could tank well and still bring the pain! Outlook does not look good for my budget in any way sad to say. Oh and whoever commented on the name Orb Weaver needs to take Biology 101 this summer! Orb Weaver is a kind of spider, like Recluse and Widow. Kids these days!
r3ad2
what?
macarthur1961 @ Jul 20th, 2012 12:41AM
Luv the liik of these new ships but am not impressed with the stats. Ut appears the omly reason to try get them is if you are bored wuth your current one...or just like gambling on the tholian Boxes. As well, from 3 fleet missions I recieved 12 Tholian boxes tonite.....seems like maybe I should have been lucky to get 3...but 12...c'mon. Thus us gonna be like the Ferengi ones...where U kept 100 and threw away about 5000 since then. As I am unlikely to spend $100 to see what is in the Ferengu ones, what am U supposed to do wuth these ones? I don't consider these to be rewards...more loke plagues. They occupy space in my bank and give little return...the best bet being to sell them on the Xchg. How bout you guys lose them and put in some real rewards?
kirkryder @ Jul 19th, 2012 5:46PM
Well the ships are a bit lam TBH... Im still waiting for the Yamoto a powerful vessel from the days of Klingon Academy. The ships in those games rocked... The Yam had constant fire power and 2 blue beams that shot out and really caused some serious damage... Also the graphics in some cases were better with better damage to ships, bits flying off and all sorts. These new boxes are just like the old ones, money spinning... Thats all it is, now if you want to make money, make them cheaper, make the game cheaper and you will have more people buying more!!! However these days common sense seems to be lacking in all cases... Esp games.
neoakiraii
sooo make a free game cheaper hmmmm...and i don't think they are losing money as i can tell a lot of people are buying keys. also comparing another game to this in which both games have nothing to do with one another, and are nothing alike is pretty lame TBH.
optyk1
Yeah because STO is all kinds of FREE right Neo? Kirk is right, this FREE to play game is way more expensive then a normal $!5 a month game where everything is included.
michaelsdst @ Jul 19th, 2012 2:07PM
What, no Typoon???
teroknor2012 @ Jul 19th, 2012 12:31PM
I just want a Tholian ship with a Tholian Web weaver.
qwertyuioptius @ Jul 19th, 2012 10:56AM
*If anyone is prepared to buy them*
qwertyuioptius @ Jul 19th, 2012 10:55AM
Lockboxes will fetch a fair price on the exchange once they have stopped appearing in loot.
shewulph @ Jul 19th, 2012 10:16AM
Guys correct me if my maths is totally off, but the Tholian Recluse Carrier is 800 Lobi crystals. You get a min of 4 crystals in a lock box. If you have the worst luck ever it will take 200 boxes. 200 keys at 125 ZEN is 25000 ZEN, which is $250.... Isn't that a bit expensive for one ship?
cuse2015
You forgot you can buy keys on exchange and they have the 10 pack, which has a very small discount. Also you can use dilith to buy keys.
brackynews
@she: Yes it is expensive. Don't do it that way if you aren't lucky enough to get more than 4 per box. :) @cuse: You can't use dilith to buy keys, you can use dilith to buy zen to buy keys.
cuse2015 @ Jul 19th, 2012 9:29AM
So essentially same ship, different skin for the mirror universe ships.... Everyone knows the Terran Federation would be much more aggressive, so you think this would be reflected in their ships with more of a tact layout. And what about a cloaking device for them? It is standard on all their ships. As for the Tholian ships, they look awesome. But you guys messed up the name on one, it should be Tholain WEB Weaver, not Orb Weaver.
anikaiful
Bleh, too much tac stuff out there already. At least these bring variety.
xevilxmasterx @ Jul 19th, 2012 9:02AM
going back in time eh? http://gyazo.com/0c3271369a95236e941b0837aece2f86
enyinaya @ Jul 19th, 2012 8:55AM
Been waiting for a nice science ship. I do not want a lockbox one or a cruiser like one, or a non faction one either, I want a proper C-Store Federation Ship. Please keep working on the Vesta Class. I play mostly science and have been flying the Intrepid for too long. Thank you for the Lockbox and work that you did for it. Since it is optional, I will not complain about it.
rjcfoxtrot @ Jul 19th, 2012 8:33AM
Unless the mirror universe is just being different to be different.
rjcfoxtrot @ Jul 19th, 2012 8:32AM
The labelling for Star and Assault Cruisers don't match up with the pictures.
neoakiraii
cuz they are mirror ships DUHHHHHH, they are reversed. the Sov is more Sci and the Whale ship is more Tac...they switched it.
r3ad2
wow
poopbang @ Jul 19th, 2012 8:30AM
And I HOPE all of you know, you can pretty much make Mirror skins whith ship designs and coloring them yellow....
neoakiraii
that would be the case if the consoles were the same but they switched them making the assault ship the Star Cruiser.
voporak @ Jul 19th, 2012 8:19AM
Ok, so we got a lot of science ships and a semi-tactical cruiser. I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd love to get their hands on one but I'm still seeing my new D'kora as a better tactical ship than all of these. I'll just save up my ec and try for a Galor in my Cardassian boxes. I could trade one of those for almost anything (save an attack ship) because there simply aren't alot left. But anyway, some nice ships, just not for me.
abyssinain @ Jul 19th, 2012 7:59AM
Darshie101: Pretty much this entire thread is filled with 'no mor tacitcl sips 0mg n00b cyptic. lol' Using the whole mommy and daddy's money argument is irrelevant, just because YOU don't think this is a good place to put your money doesn't mean others don't aswell. Regardless, you can get keys for dilithium, or even plain energy credits. In-fact, you being a subscriber simply nullifies your already nullified statement, 'im a PROUD SUBSCRIBER AND LIFETIME MEMBER' pretty much directly contradicts the whole 'if you spend money on keys obvious it isn't yours' argument. To me lifetime membership is a huge waste of money, it was when the game was pay to play and it is even more so now. Did you buy it to support Cryptic, or maybe because you love star trek? Oh well im just going to act high and mighty, then say 'however you want to spend your mommy and daddy's money!' Games of chance is a FACT of MMOs, its in nearly every MMO and even more so in free to play MMOs, you know what STFs are? you know what WoW raids are? GAMES OF CHANCE. You don't NEED to play the game of chance for these ships, just let someone else play it then save up your ECs and buy it off the exchange. Christ...
oogieb
i got lifetime for 150$ years ago. its payed for itself buy now so i win with the lifetime thing.
zeuxidemus001 @ Jul 19th, 2012 7:44AM
Atleast I have no motivation to obtain any of these items out of the lockbox... I honestly do not know who would buy these items. TBH the stuff you can already get out in the game is better and who wants more support/science ships when there is not much use for them in the game to begin with.
poopbang
I would.....
neoakiraii
I would.
thebumble @ Jul 19th, 2012 7:16AM
Bought at LEAST 50 keys for the Ferengi boxes without getting a ship. I'll be passing on these, and good luck to the people who try. Although, who would want to fly a ship in which you have to wear an EV suit all the time? Mind boggling.
xastirx
re-red the first paragraph. they said the interiors were MODIFIED so you DON'T NEED A SUIT.
cthulhuslawyer @ Jul 19th, 2012 6:43AM
Honestly , there is nothing to bitch about on the boxes, they are still optional. If you wanna spin the wheel to see what you get its up to you. Ship wise i don't see them overpowered at all, sure some of the new abilities look nice but their turn rate is kinda meh.... Now if they would only add some new ships for our Science friends or some for our KDF buddies ....
xastirx
agreed on the ships not being OP statement. Look at their stats. They are the same as the prime universe opposite. The mirror sovvy is a prime universe avenger with the opposite skin. the mirror avenger is basically a prime soverign with different skin and a better paint job.
poopbang
They gota figure out that there is no weight in space, and if you fit any ship with the proper thrust, it can turn like a escort....
nosharu
All objects have mass. The more mass the more thrust it requires to maneuver. Weight is not an issue, but mass is. The larger a ship is the more power it requires to maneuver. For a carrier to move like an escort would require engines that would be unreasonably enormous and would more than likely tear the ship apart due to the force that would be applied. Structural integrity has its limits.
oogieb
there's no weight in space but there is mass and u need alot of power to push alot of mass
palpha2clearance @ Jul 19th, 2012 6:24AM
Note: we may bait and switch ship stats after you purchase, and reduce effectiveness to that of space debris
