Combat EV Suits

Right when we added Environmental Suit areas to STO (first introduced with the DS9 spacewalk during the Dominion featured episode series), I knew we had to make the suits from First Contact. They are a favorite amongst both the Dev team and the fans, and it’s as much fun to hang out in your Starbase wearing one as it is to combat the Tholians, or go on a Dilithium mining expedition.
We also wanted Klingon players to be able to join the EV suit party, so we created new EV suits that look distinctively Klingon, and feel like something that would be designed by the Empire around the same time period as the Starfleet EV Suits from First Contact. Both the Federation and Klingon EV suits are Very Rare items, and have enough upgraded capabilities to make any officer or warrior proud to wear one.

The Environmental Suits you've been waiting for are almost here! After this week’s server maintenance, new Combat EV Suits will be available in the C-Store for both the Federation and KDF factions.

Federation Combat Environmental Suit (700 Zen)
As seen in Star Trek: First Contact, DS9 and Voyager, this suit has the clean look of the 24th century with updated capabilities for the worst Nukara Prime has to offer. This Very Rare item gives you the following bonuses:
- Environmental Protection
- Reaction Thrusters
- +30.5 Physical Damage Resistance
- +30.5 Kinetic Damage Resistance

- +5.1 Energy Damage Resistance

- +30.5 Radiation Damage Resistance
- +30.5 Toxic Damage Resistance
- +15.2 Fire Damage Resistance
- +15.2 Cold Resistance
Note: This item is a Character unlock that can be traded or sold on the Exchange. If you discard, sell, trade or use a Federation Combat Environmental Suit, you will NOT be able to claim a free replacement from the C-Store.

KDF Combat Environmental Suit (700 Zen)
Designed by the teams at Ganalda Station, this environmental suit provides extra protection for the warriors braving the dangers of Nukara Prime. This Very Rare item gives you the following bonuses:
- Environmental Protection
- Reaction Thrusters
- +30.5 Physical Damage Resistance
- +30.5 Kinetic Damage Resistance
- +5% Energy Damage
- +5.1 Energy Damage Resistance
- +15.2 Radiation Damage Resistance

We hope you enjoy these new Combat EV Suits and we’ll see you in-game.

Cryptic, PWE. Hello. Hello. Can you hear us? Is this mic even on? Yeah, I don't thing they can hear us or they just aren't listening anymore. :( I miss when they used to listen to us... (;_;)
tinead51
It's called selective hearing, very strong in this company.
georgiekun @ Jul 27th, 2012 12:16AM
Like everyone else, I think it's overpriced. I do like the artwork, and if it was an account unlock for both fractions, like someo f the stuff in the costume store, I would pay 400 zen for it. Maybe 500. I would not buy an item with these stats at this price.
jumpingjs
I agree, I love the artwork and want to have one, and I would get it but there hardly is any content to use it in really. £10 and poof in 3 missions. I would get it if it was cheaper
onedon9 @ Jul 26th, 2012 6:42PM
700 Zen? Worse than Fleet Ship Modules! And who are you trying to fool, passing off MVAE as an Advanced Escort cause you dont want us to get 75% FSM 'Discount'. Captain the Ship is sinking! Until you guys wise up i wont buy another zen! and you guys know i buy alot!
sumghai @ Jul 26th, 2012 3:46PM
To the Chinese Ferengi Overlords at Beijing HQ: PWE, 你們也未免太貪心了吧!
meridian113 @ Jul 26th, 2012 3:37PM
This EVA suits should be standard Fed and KDF issued gear not a money sucking c-store items. This is how Star Trek spirit getting another shot in the head.Game better change name into Ferengi Alliance Online
sumghai
It won't be long before it becomes "Heavenly Glorious Magic Dynasty Space Online", where people are extorted into paying to have the game merely appear like Star Trek.

So true it hurts...
cousteau1701e @ Jul 26th, 2012 2:06PM
This is a bit over priced for a single character unlock, I agree. This would be an OK price for say an EV Suit Bundle. Both Fed and KDF EV suit account wide unlocks. I can see them being worth maybe 400 Zen each as account wide unlocks for the simple fact that they are actually armor. I know prices have changed due to the conversion to Zen, but I didn't realize that they were going to implement inflation too. I'll be honest, I would consider purchasing this if it were at least account wide.
houseguydc @ Jul 26th, 2012 12:51PM
No. Just. No.
starfish1701 @ Jul 26th, 2012 10:29AM
700 Zen! Character unlock only! Waayyy overpriced. Even if it were account wide, at that price I still don't think I would go for it, though I might at least consider it.
benmaxwell9 @ Jul 26th, 2012 9:45AM
700 Zen for an EV Suit that isn't an Account Wide unlock LOL no thank you and I normally do buy a lot of items, but if this is the way STO is going, then I certainly won't be spending anymore, I will stick with what I have until things get cheaper. If STO is struggling for money, you need to find alternative means or actually make the item woth the amount you charge, period.
pe124 @ Jul 26th, 2012 9:37AM
Wow,these EV suits are almost a armor!
nightsisters @ Jul 26th, 2012 8:40AM
Folks, Guild Wars 2 is coming out in less then a month....a LONG couple week's and goodbye to this game. I wonder if any of the folk's at Cryptic are gonna be jealous, anybody who played the beta will tell you how awesome the game will be...this game suck's in comparison. Imagine if NCSOFT was the big giant in charge instead of PWE, I'll take a korean company over a chinese one anyday, [ yes NCSOFT doesn't have a hot reputation either but they a multi-BILLION $ company ].
admrenlarreck @ Jul 26th, 2012 8:20AM
Great New look for these. 700 ZEN, maybe ok IF YOU put both KDF and FED Versions in one box AND make them account unlock. Otherwise I wouldn't pay more than 100 Zen for a single character non reclaimable unlock.
littlemonchichi @ Jul 26th, 2012 8:08AM
This is so sad what you make to loyal player :-( Every Update, every Season, every change in the Game is only to make profit...and the worst is, we are noticing it! I am noticing that more and more player are leaving - no wonder - the Game is becoming boring. And that you have deactivated the foundry for such a long time to make it brandnew is so true like player dont have to pay something for fleet ships like written in interviews before releasing season 6. We know that you keep foundry deactivated that people dont get the idea to make fleetbases for free or make something different as spending their bucks for bullshit. Stop thinking we are stupid cashcows!
kirkryder @ Jul 26th, 2012 7:47AM
Honestly you will never learn... You keep adding stuff and putting up the price... USE A BIT OF COMMON SENSE... Lower prices and people will BUY MORE... Keep putting them up and guess what... We wont pay your prices, which is bad for the game and bad press for you guys... So before its to late lower prices please, for the players sakes... You know 1 thing your like the UK Government, they do not listen to the people either...
optyk1 @ Jul 26th, 2012 7:33AM
Overpriced character unlock AGAIN. I wont be buying it from the CStore OR the Exchange until either stats are fixed or price is dropped by 40% or more. Yay F2P...it oh SO SAVED STO from closing it's doors...
jorumgandr @ Jul 26th, 2012 6:45AM
Cryptic y u no find ways to encourage me to spend earth dollars. I mean the suits look awesome, but it seems rather overpriced for a character unlock.
towani @ Jul 26th, 2012 6:39AM
Lol - at most worth 100 Zen. No thanks.
ethoir @ Jul 26th, 2012 6:37AM
Overpriced for a per-character unlock. 4200 zen to get 6 (the # of characters in my account). Yeah, no. That's almost as much as buying two of the Odyessy ships.. Or the whole pack (which are ACCOUNT unlocks). This new EV suit needs to be made Account Unlock, /NOT/ Per Character, for that 700z price to be anywhere near reasonable.
davehudders @ Jul 26th, 2012 6:24AM
The suits look nice, but the price of 700 zen is absolutely insane. I'll just stick to the suits that I can pick up in-game thanks.
startrek1wars @ Jul 26th, 2012 6:24AM
Thank's to the dev team for making this-I'm really happy with the new look and will definitely buy it. (through dilithium, of course) Can't wait!
tinead51
LOL
aquitaine985 @ Jul 26th, 2012 5:44AM
Lots of comments about the price. If it was account unlockable I would understand the price, but it's not even that. Just another way for PWE/Cryptic to bleed us dry this week. Thanks, but i'll just buy one out of the Exchange if they're a suitable price. If not then what am i really losing? Not much. The fact this is the ONLY suit in the game that offers Cold damage resistance is disgusting, ground PVP is full of the new tholian set guns which are over-powered. People who want an even ground need to then buy this to stay on equal terms with is P2W in it's ugliest form.
inisfatus @ Jul 26th, 2012 5:08AM
1) make this account unlock for 700 zen 2) put this in replicator bound to pick up 3) put an upgrade system in the lobi store and you'll make money.
schlgrmstr @ Jul 26th, 2012 5:08AM
Like many others here have said, if this was an account unlock I would have broken out my card already. I figure I could grind the dilithium for this in like a month or so.
bigbebberino @ Jul 26th, 2012 4:52AM
Gonna pass, the Tholian is insanely easy to get and better for what it is intended. Oh yeah and it took me all of 2 days to get the set.
