The Star Trek Online team is pleased to present this spotlight video that features the Temporal Lock Box.
Note: The 29th Century Federation Uniform shown in the video, as well as a unique version for the KDF, will be obtainable from the Lobi Store in the near future.

This round of lock-boxes are by far the worst offering by PW yet. It is a long story but I got almost 80 keys, and I spent 100 dollars to by 90 more. I was very excited to get a new temporal ship. The lock-boxes have a horrible "pay-out" this time around. of the 200 keys I have used, I have about 400 Lobi crystals and about 100 Doff Packs to show for it. All the variety of stuff you could get in past lock-boxes is gone. 90% of the boxes are 4 lobi crystals and a Doff pack. Since you get 100 Doff for your ship these packs quickly become worthless. 400 Lobi crystals are still 400 short to get a nice ship from the lobi store and by this math a "Lobi" ship cost about 400 dollars real money. I don't mind spending a little cash here or there for cool toys but this is basically just theft on the part of PW. Other players I have spoken too about this round of lock-boxes say they get about the same reward and the few people who do have Temporal ships say they spent at least 300 keys to get them. Speaking as someone who paid 15 buck a month for a year on membership, spent 300 dollars on a life membership after that, buying all Zen ships, and participating in all lock-box events, PW has finally lost my business. I won't spend another dime on this company. There are other games who actually reward their player base when spending real money.

Hey everyone i think the game is awesome. im not on here much but i just play the game for one reason. My continuous love for star trek! :-) dont get me wrong some of the tings on here sometimes seem a little extreme price wise but i usually save a little bit at a time till i can grab it or if not i just give away the boxes to other friends that play. but truethfull my reasons are keeping the spirit of star trek alive by enjoying the game. :-)
boli179 @ Oct 6th, 2012 7:16PM
piss off locked box's and make the ships into mission rewards or store buys. that will solve the issues and make players happy.
rodoggtrek @ Oct 5th, 2012 1:44PM
Yet another reason why I'm debating on going back to WoW.....
mattachine @ Sep 30th, 2012 7:12AM
And please make the 29th centrury uniform account wide or cheap and possible to trade/sell.
mattachine @ Sep 30th, 2012 7:10AM
How long is "in the near future"?
mattachine @ Sep 30th, 2012 7:05AM
Where is the uniform from 1:13 in the video?
qwertyuioptius @ Sep 30th, 2012 3:42AM
LOL, u people on STO have no idea how good you have it. U don't like a ship that u have 2 pay 4? U get 2 utilise 1 of the many other FREE features instead. I mean, it's not like there's some1 holding u @ gunpoint, making u buy it. Dummies.
qwertyuioptius
Besides, these ships actually look seriously bossish
batuwolf @ Sep 28th, 2012 12:07PM
Now this is what I am talking about cryptic has finally woke up from there nap and is now putting good ideas to work i cant wait to try this ship out. :)
jasonputt
i love my mobiles, kicks borg but
oldschooldork @ Sep 27th, 2012 4:51PM
and the funny part is, for a free to play game, i have never seen so many people whining and crying and complaining. "where's my ship..waaa waaa waaaa". "i want my ship...waaa waaa waaa". "cryptic sucks because i didn't get my ship...waaa waaa waaa". i have three young daughters and, put together, they have never whined and cried as much as you people do on here. this is a perfect example of the whole entitlement issue we have in this country. and it's all of you toddlers with your little baby fits thats turning me off of this wonderful game. so if your underdeveloped little "brains" can understand this, here is a simple solution. if you don't like the book, don't read it. if you don't like the movie, don't watch it. if you don't like the music, don't listen to it. if you don't like the lock boxes, don't pick them up. if you don't like the master keys, don't buy them. it's as simple as that. no matter what you think, you are not entitled to a ship. so to cryptic i say job well done. there are a handful of us out there who appreciate your efforts and have no trouble contributing to keep the game free. and please don't listen to all the whiner babies on here. they are just upset because they can't understand why they are not just being given their precious little ships they feel they are entitled to.
nephilim83
It's odd to read such an immaturely worded post form a person with 3 daughters complaining about "whiners" who act like "babies" and "toddlers." I think this is what is referred to as "stooping to their level," no? Maybe you should take the same "if you don't like it, avoid it" approach you suggest and skip over the "waaa waaa waaa" posts. Much like yourself, people are unhappy with something and simply have a poor way of expressing themselves. No need to insult them.
oldschooldork
hmmm...interesting...and who is insulting who? no whining or crying here, i am merely stating a FACT. just saying how people feel they are entitled to everything. that no matter what you do for people they are not happy. and it pisses me off that it's these people who end up ruining a good thing for everyone else. who is stooping to what? as i said...i am merely stating fact...and the only reason people get upset with my post is, deep down, they know i'm right...they will just never admit it. truth be told, i'm very surprised these entitlement people on here haven't got a lawyer yet to sue cryptic to get their ships. you might be fine with all the "gimme gimme gimme" people, but in my opinion they need a good kick in the behind...and a little dose of reality wouldn't hurt them either.
cobalt1975
Oldschooldork; You've been schooled. Despite your tirade, the fact remains that nephilim has a sound point which you've failed to refute. On a deeper note, dragging modern day politics which have failed to serve mankind in any capacity into a game set in the 25th century is something to giggle at as well. If you need an outlet for such things perhaps a virtual world is not the place to vent such frustrations. Maybe you'd get more miles out of a tirade to your Congressman, Senator, President, or the voting booth.
gabe1898
when you spend $600 bucks on keys you should get a ship!!!!
cannonfodder911 @ Sep 27th, 2012 3:10PM
really? 13 seconds? that's not enough time to do anything... it's time enough to correct one mistake. Just call it the Omega 13 device and get it over with, Long Live Galaxy Quest!!!!
disavow048 @ Sep 27th, 2012 2:14PM
There are a lot of people that really do not like the lox boxes.. Please put the ships in the Z-store, more people would buy them. All the people i know and including myself, will not spend money or in game resource for a "what if" chance to get something good out of those.
drkfrontiers @ Sep 27th, 2012 12:43PM
Nice, would be cool if you sometimes spotlighted player videos :)
captainfry420x @ Sep 27th, 2012 11:57AM
Personally I like knowing that the game I love is generating income for the producers, regardless of the method. I don't open many boxes myself, but I don't mind jamming my vaults full of them and selling for credits when something else is on. That and the value of the lockboxes themselves seems to be continually improving.
warpedcore @ Sep 27th, 2012 9:26AM
You know how to win at the lock box? Have patience. If you subscribe to the game, you get 500 free points per month. That's 5 Lock boxes per month. Sure, it's not a lot, but if you 'need' to have it right here and now, you're going to pay through the nose. Save up the Lobi Crystals, and buy it at Drazona station, or just keep going till you eventually get the ship you're looking for.
valswansong @ Sep 27th, 2012 8:31AM
I have to agree with much of what has been stated. I have opened many lock boxes and all I have to show for it are a complete set of Hamlet characters, the Tholian BOffs and at long last I did get an Orb Weaver. But, you know what? I actually don't mind so much. Yes, I wish I could have had a Jem'Hadar ship, but it is not the be all and end all of being here. Cryptic, like any business, do have to find ways to generate income since the game became F2P. As has been stated by so many people, you are not being FORCED to buy a key. Just as no-one holds a gun to your head and demands that you play the game. Are there content issues? Yes. Could improvements be made? Of course. Does this need to be funded? Naturally. Just remember that nothing in this world, be it online or not, comes for free. In the end, everything pays for something else.
orici1701
thats a good point that, so in other words if every1 stopped buying the keys they would have to re think and do something else. may be put them in the zen store or something lol
orici1701 @ Sep 27th, 2012 8:01AM
nice job, but i still think it would be more wise to put it in the zen store or make it easy to get the ships not just luck. Please bring the warship voyager in.
pardusian141 @ Sep 27th, 2012 7:17AM
I would rather pay directly for the content then purchase 100000 keys and have a chance at getting what I want. But, those lock boxes are actually keeping this game f2p so I can't realy complain.
alienhunter4
i agree. i would rather buy it.
gregoryj @ Sep 27th, 2012 5:51AM
I would rather buy the content of the lock boxes outright. I would rather spend real money and actually get something decent for it.
thebumble @ Sep 27th, 2012 5:39AM
The Lockboxes aren't that big of a deal. I don't understand why people are making such a big stink about them. You want to play for free, but condemn anything Crypic does to make money. I suppose pop-up ads along the side of the game window would work, with an ad about the viability for a cure to genital warts flip flopping with insurance ads. And for the person who complained about the music, read at the bottom of the screen here where it says 2012 CBS Studios, All rights reserved. They own it, not Cryptic. If CBS says they can't use it, they can't.
raulblanco7 @ Sep 27th, 2012 4:18AM
I like the Wells class, good turn rate, very good shield and special console... i think it will be a very good science ship. I will use some keys, maybe i will be lucky, but i think i will need to buy it from exchange... it will be 150 - 100 million EC at the first day's, than will be starting to go down the price like the Orb weaver... so if you wait a month, you will can buy it for 40-50 million EC. Isometric charge finally, i waited for it long time ago, i always wanted the subspace jump and isometric charge console's to my ship, now finally i got them. Its a nice lock box, and i looking forward to open borg lock box next time... i want an Unimatrix ship :)
artgravity @ Sep 27th, 2012 3:51AM
I was looking at some of the comments about keys being expensive. While I agree, I also have to say that I don't blame them. City of Heroes is about to be dismantled, not to be playable. They went free to play and I wonder if they were not getting enough money in. That being said, if STO can stay open by the few people who buy keys, more power to them. I am thankful that they have worked so hard to keep a good game going.
sharpie65 @ Sep 27th, 2012 2:29AM
let me tell you something...if you don't want to spend real money on a lock box, DON'T! IT'S NOT MANDATORY THAT YOU DO SO! how else do you think they pay the bills, apart from the dwindling supply of subscribers? i am looking forward to having ANY one of these fantastic ships, great job Cryptic!
bludagger @ Sep 27th, 2012 1:37AM
YEAH!!! a new lock box to delete! good times!
asches1 @ Sep 27th, 2012 12:45AM
as many other players i've opened about 40 boxes => no ship what so ever. i got mostly bridge off is etc. what is the result of it? i deleted my moneybookers.com account and im not paying a dime anymore to PW. that's what you get for your fine idea to make money through gambling (lock box). gratulations...
asches1
not bridge off is, it should be duty offis...
