Into the Hive

Over the past year, the Borg have been threatening the very existence of many species in the galaxy. Their advancements in the Gamma Orionis Sector Block have cost the Federation and Klingon Defense Force countless lives, but resistance has proved not to be as futile as the Borg would have liked. The nanovirus discovered at Starbase 82 (“Infected”) by Task Force Omega, along with the counteragent that was developed based on data found in the Vorn System (“The Cure”), has helped turn the tides of war. Also, the events in the Quadra Sigma System (“Khitomer Accord”) have helped prove that the Borg attacks on the Vega Colony were mere attempts at trying to alter the timeline to give them the upper hand. While Task Force Omega has been victorious thus far, the Borg threat remains, and a final battle must be won.
All these events now lead to the culmination of the fight against the Borg advancement in our upcoming Special Task Force (STF) mission, Into the Hive. In this new STF, players will infiltrate Unimatrix 01, the heart of the Borg Collective and the home of the Borg Queen.
Incoming message from Task Force Omega…
Captain, our agents have discovered the location of a Borg Unimatrix. We managed to get a probe into the area, and before the Borg destroyed it, the readings indicated that the Queen's vessel was in the area. A small strike team is being assembled because they stand a higher chance of infiltrating the Borg defenses than an attack fleet does.
This is the best opportunity we're going to have to take the fight directly to the Collective. I want you to infiltrate the Unimatrix with a small team and defeat the Borg Queen!
Once you have penetrated to the heart of Unimatrix 01, the first thing you will need to do is defeat the drones connected to Central Plexus Node relays that give the Queen unfettered access to the rest of the Borg fleet. Once you have done that, you can upload a fractal virus to the Collective that will disrupt her communications with the rest of the Collective.
We'll keep the sensors locked onto your position and alert you to hidden dangers, as well as send you more information as it becomes available.
Good luck.

To participate, use the PvE Queue to join either a public or private queue. Into the Hive is a ground mission that is available in two difficulty modes: Normal and Elite. This event is always available, but if you play during certain hourly events (calendar updates to be announced at a later date) you will earn even more rewards. Into the Hive is available to both Federation and Klingon players and is targeted at 5-person groups. You must be a Vice Admiral or Lieutenant General to participate.
We’ll see you in-game and in the queues for Into the Hive when it launches with Season 7!

sa vas être super j'en avais marre de faire les autre
themarie @ Oct 15th, 2012 11:36AM
So... all grind maps. No story-progression, no missions. Looks like our Fearless Producer lied to us.
xastirx
ddont jump the gun just yet. The space portion is still in development. Remember it takes the two halves to make the complete picture. like with cure, the ground portion is getting the nanovirus cure. the space portion is saving the kang which was disabled in an attempt to get the spoils of the ground portion back to the KDF. Think of it like a 2 part featured series. They don't release all six parts of those all at once do they?

kamikazi2142 @ Oct 14th, 2012 5:08PM
nice, can't wait to see what the new mission chain looks like... that is... if you are making a new mission chain, otherwise, disappointed.
kamikazi2142
isnt that nice? new patch, and game won't launch... very nice, so much fun, great patch guys, you really out did yourselves this time. -_-
harrywargen @ Oct 14th, 2012 6:15AM
canbt one be like unomatrix zero " star trek voyerger whene we fight the bor as a borg but who still has induviduality
syfyguy64 @ Oct 12th, 2012 10:22PM
Could there be better ground? I mean, it's not horrible, but I feel like i'm not in control of my target. I can't fire in the head or arm, the AI auto-points to the chest all the time. Same with space battle. Maybe add a feature to target a certain feature if so desired, or ignore and fire at will.
syfyguy64
And maybe a feature to fight inside the bridge as well.
brackynews
They could do sub-limb targeting, but only for science toons. ;D
excelciour
Try Pressing B when in battle (Ground) then use mouse to aim how you like, and for space use (Target Subsystems) Shields, Engines, Weapons, etc basically already out there just need the skills to use them

I'd love to see a space-part for this STF, but it would need to be something very special: As the Blog allready said "A small strike team is being assembled because they stand a higher chance of infiltrating the Borg defenses than an attack fleet does.", so it shouldn't end-up as a pure DPS-festival like the other space-STFs. This means only one thing, Shuttle-Action, maybe with a little bit of background-firework like in "Operation: Gamma" - sneak through and face a Cube in Shutles/Fighters, then manage to get to the hive and cloack - just like in Voyager-Endgame - beam inside or be beamed, ... We are just missing good KDF-Shuttles/Fighters and good Shuttle-Weapons (Issue-S Phaser- or Polaron-Array Mk XII in purple quality for my Delta-Flyer, please).

were of to see the borg queen the wonderful borg queen of Oz
vexravus @ Oct 12th, 2012 9:25PM
I would really love to see some more non-Borg content...more story-based missions and other content for the KDF and more story for the FED. The Borg were amazing in the shows, mainly because they weren't overused and every time they were shown they were reinvented or adapted and it just made them seem more threatening...STO seems to have turned the Borg into space mosquitoes...they're everywhere, but they're just a mild annoyance at best, not exactly a threat. We either need an entirely new Borg paradigm or (preferably) more non-Borg content. There's very little going on the with the Cardassians or the Breen...even the Tholians felt like they were just an excuse to release a new lockbox...please Cryptic, expand the universe, don't just keep recycling the Borg. All in all, still love the game, just hoping for some fresher content.

Make cubes strong like bull.

Into the Hive has been promised content for a very long time.

Branflakes you have made my day....finally the missoin ive always wanted....Into the HIve, yes and finally get to meet the Queen btw please make her have decent personality like there actors of Voyager and Star Trek First Contact. They did a great job protraying a sense of class but evil at the sametime. Manus was Drone, Donatra was bland, Armek was a little too chatty. Give her some you know charm....afterall Data almost fell head over heals for her or one of her female drones with her essense (Royal Protocol - Star Trek Destiny series novel). As for rewards, i want guns as in automatic bullet guns and pistols. Plus make Terran weaponry for space like a superpowered console like Thalarons projectors (in desperate times even we can use it). Subspace weapons, like a Isolitic Burst from the So'na. And so on, we are at war and yet we could demolish the Borg/ enemies and yet we don't have them? Think about all and all thanks for posting this Bran really appreciate the effort to still make it happen
revenuzamaki @ Oct 12th, 2012 11:22AM
This is all good, but they need to make a free to roam, pvp based sector. Like that deep space wall we all run into that says were not authorized to enter. They should make that like a pvp zone were any faction can fire on any faction. I think that would bring some lively hood and competitiveness to the game among sides. Also it would bring in the need for a fleet. Just some thoughts. You could think of it as a "wild" from runescape if you've played the game you know what i'm talking about.
poopbang
I like that Idea, where if you within like say 10 LY, you could have the option to "attack" another player, and then you would both drop out of warp and end up in some kinda empty map, and you fight untill death :D. You could also explore random planets where you can attack other players.
poopbang
Or just get rid of sector space entirly, it pisses me off when I have to fly around for 10 minutes to go to the other end of the sector >:|
j0n4h00 @ Oct 12th, 2012 10:47AM
Please ignore any request for additional space content. In fact, please eliminate space from the game entirely. :P
grtiggy @ Oct 12th, 2012 10:16AM
can we PLEASE have a space version, i HATE ground STF's with a passion
captaindoug1 @ Oct 12th, 2012 10:07AM
If they manage to execute this STF well as a ground STF then it should be awesome, but if cryptic doesn't then it's going to be annoying!
den29 @ Oct 12th, 2012 9:41AM
i would love to be able to play as a borg do you think it can be done?
therumancer23
Lifetime subscribers can play as liberated Borg.
excelly @ Oct 12th, 2012 9:12AM
when is this out on holodeck?
chokopop1 @ Oct 12th, 2012 8:54AM
Been looking forward to this, ever since I read what was gonna be included in Season 7 (Credit to STOWiki). However, I wouldn't mind another space STO or something like that. I like the ground stuff but I do prefer the space combat.
badname834854 @ Oct 12th, 2012 8:10AM
So - is this also going to be broken down into "Into The Hive Ground" and "Into The Hive" Spce like the rest of the Borg STFs? What are the rewards for this? How about a Random piecce of Proto Borg Tech both space AND ground? I'd be cool with that....
mrsterling847 @ Oct 12th, 2012 7:55AM
Romulans/Remans a playable faction please! This game desperately needs a 3rd playable faction to revive interest. Their story line focus can be on espionage, internal conflict, and rebuilding their shattered empire.
natecda
That would be amazing.
ducklesworth @ Oct 12th, 2012 7:12AM
You would think that after 3 years in the making, you'd have a space map. It's funny, but with so much time working on this, it feels really rushed.
fogerty1 @ Oct 12th, 2012 6:23AM
Im glad a new season is coming and following a storyline. But can I make ONE REQUEST? How about some focus towards TOS enemies? I am getting Borg overload. Thumbs up on a new season and continuing story.
mbomber2
Good Thinking. I like the look of TOS better too. Uniforms, Klingons, alll of it. I wish you could choose how your enemies looked with some type of filter or game setting.
progenitor27 @ Oct 12th, 2012 6:05AM
I'm quite looking forward to this. To be honest, I find the Borg interior environments to be some of the most oppressive in the game. Whenever I enter a Borg interior environment, I always have my Captain in "aim" mode... It sort of completes the feel of the environment.
bridgern @ Oct 12th, 2012 2:40AM
The only problem i have with it is that it will be like the Vault were you can play the mission every time, but you get the sample for the shield, deflector... only when the event is running.
raulblanco7
You always will get some reward, just you will get more when event is running. This is like now the STF day's, when you get 1500 dilithium instead of 1100 and 4 EDC instead of the 2.
mattjohnsonva @ Oct 12th, 2012 1:00AM
Awesome guys, finally time to rid the quadrant of those pesky Borg. Cheers
darthdudenate
except that it won't work every time. they need to keep the borg around to do the other missions. oh Yea, and this one is reapetable.
annitaill @ Oct 11th, 2012 11:46PM
These new borg instance should be combined space-ground, first make your way to borg queen ship (space) then fight on ship (ground) - longer but much more playable mission.
cypherpilot1
You have just described how all the old STF's use to be, Space then Ground.
mbomber2
The old way had its charm, but also its troubles. It would be cool if you could have a choice between the old STF way and the new. Not sure how hard that would be to set up but every once in a while when im in the mood and have enough time i wish i could do "old school" STF.
