Fleet Support Duty Officer Pack

With the incorporation of Fleet Holdings, we offered players exciting new incentives to create and improve their own Fleets. This Duty Officer pack is designed to expand on that, by synergizing with the new Fleet Holdings and encouraging team gameplay.
Each pack is structured similarly to the Reinforcement Duty Officer pack. When you open the pack, you’ll be rewarded with one blue quality or better Duty Officer, two green quality or better Duty Officers, and four white quality or better Duty Officers. In addition, each pack comes with an added bonus reward!
Most of these bonus rewards are the same options that were available as in the Reinforcements pack, but we removed one of the less desirable prizes – Gamma Quadrant Consumables – and replaced them with some new possible options.
In addition to any Duty Officers you receive, you also will get one (1) of the following special bonus prizes:
- A stack of Gamma Quadrant Commodities
- An Alien Artifact (available in both "Powered" and "Unpowered" versions)
- A random Mark XII Very Rare Console
- A stack of Embassy Provisions (to help contribute to their new Embassy Holding)
- A box containing 5 Gamma Quadrant Commodities or 5 Embassy Provisions, and a powerful Tier 4 or Tier 5 Operational asset.
- or the grand prize… a set of four (4) Fleet Modules (used for purchasing powerful Fleet Starships)
We’re also excited to announce that we’ve added one new species and one new specialization in this pack. This pack includes the Bynar species – available to both Federation and Klingon players – a species first introduced in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “11001001”. Bynar come with a powerful combination of traits that emphasize their brilliant intellect and unique cooperative style.
The new specialization we’re introducing in this pack is Consultants. Consultants are special Duty Officers that increase the rate at which your Captain earns Skill Points, Expertise, or Commendation Experience.
Most Duty Officers in the pack belong to existing specializations, but the pack introduces a broad variety of new Active Duty Powers. All of the new powers are listed below:
- Damage Control Engineer (Space): Chance for Auxiliary Power to Structural Integrity Field to proc a hull Heal Over Time.
- Fabrication Engineer (Space): Decreases the cooldown of space Operational Assets.
- Hazard Systems (Space): Adds a chance for your Aceton Beam to diminish enemy power levels.
- Matter-Antimatter (Space): Your Emergency Power to Shields ability grants a temporary bonus to crowd control resistance.
- Maintenance (Space): Emergency Power to Auxiliary increases your Shield Emitters and Hull Repair skills for 30 seconds.
- Quartermaster (Space): Decreases the cooldown of batteries.
- Sensors (Space): Increases the amount of damage you can deal to a target after jamming their sensors without breaking the jamming.
- Systems Engineer (Space): Viral Matrix has a chance to spread to other nearby enemies.
- Projectile Officer (Space): Decreases the cooldown of mines.
- Astrometrics (Space): When you find a rare particle trace, you have a chance to gain an additional rare particle trace.
- Photonic Studies (Space): Chance for Photonic Shockwave to trigger Photonic Aftershocks on affected targets.
- Quartermaster (Ground): Provides a discount to purchasing Ground Operational Assets.
- Quartermaster (Ground): Provides a discount to purchasing Space Operational Assets.
- Armory Officer (Ground): Decreases the cooldown of ground Operational Assets.
- Shield Distribution Officer (Ground): Draw Fire has a chance to cause a weapons malfunction on attacking enemies.
- Biochemist (Ground): Decreased cooldown on hypos, shield charges, and power cells.
- Assault Squad Officer (Ground): Chance to cause a Hold on the target when you use Lunge.
- Consultant (Ground): Increases your Expertise gain.
- Consultant (Ground): Increases your CXP gain.
- Consultant (Ground): Increases your Skill Point gain.
As you can see, some of the new Active Duty roster powers are designed to synergize with your Fleet Holdings – like decreasing the cooldown of Operational Assets – but others are designed to be useful to any player. This pack will be useful to a broad variety of players and help make Fleet Holdings even more exciting.
We sincerely hope you enjoy this pack as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. It will be available in the C-Store starting this Wednesday for 275 ZEN per pack. We’ll see you in-game!

Hrm, good news for people hoarding Tufflis?
tancrediiv @ Nov 26th, 2012 9:16AM
Wonderful. Now we need 10 slots for space and ground Doff assignments and an increase in mission assignment points
tophtoyosaki @ Nov 24th, 2012 4:16PM
nice update... but... where's the DOFF that stops AFKers from *synergizing* with the fleet marks active players are trying to earn?
curs0r @ Nov 23rd, 2012 2:26AM
It's good that you're trying. Definitely going to pass on this item at 275 Z per pack. I look forward to buying some of the loot off the exchange at rock bottom prices.

@ mattjohnsonva So, U.S. citizen, what other languages do YOU speak? I am guessing none. But he, flaming some one that (at least) can express him/herself in another language is much easier right? Lame F...

Bynars are a neutral race hired by Starfleet, so the Klingons can use them. Consultants are where the Bynars may fit in. Pity about the transport ship, please bring it back!
daywalkerhawk @ Nov 22nd, 2012 9:07AM
clemfanchris The Fed side never had any ships for 1 Module. they all have taken 4. Wrong, you get a discount if you buy a VA Ship in the Store, then the Fleet Version only Costs 1 Module. That Discount only occurs to VA Level, Ships on Captain Level will still cost 4 Modules.
kanonistis @ Nov 21st, 2012 9:12PM
God No, please not more "Ultra Rare" Doffs! What do you Guys think about all those Doffs, do you really doing good to us? Sorry but, where should i set in those Doffs? I have only 5 Slots and there so many Doffs i need to use. But the Problem is, whats that again, the Viral Matrix Doff- it jumps from one ship to the others and disables the Subsystems of a Team? Lol, You Guys really want to destroy the PvP, looks on Photonic Doff and his After Photonic Afterschocks and the Mine Doff he decreases the cd of Mines- Na Super, more Tricobalt and Spam...

I think you need to restart the game , disconnects are getting tiresome , also the above mentioned pack is not in C-store ....

Here is my imput, if it matters. I grew up on Star Trek. To me I enjoy the game just because the game gives me everything I enjoy STO. Now I have played the game since beta. I can agree that there has been alot of changes. But since the lauch the changes have very much improved the game. There is so much interacting to the game, that can keep you busy for awhile. Now I am a business owner my self, and I agree what Cryptic/Perfect World are a business
aestu
Businesses dont succeed by fleecing their customers in the short run. You're not a business owner, you're another sock puppet on PWE's payroll.

Thank you for the great job you done. Before season 7 I use to play 12-16 hour/ day, now i just play 90 min and only becouse i make mistake to have 4 caracters. Before season 7 i have stupid ideea to buy a life suscription. Thanx to remind me i coud use money in better way. Keep going with good job, maby at season 8 you remind me i coud do beter thing with my free time and i wont play anymore.
mattjohnsonva
Please learn to spell, also learn what grammar is. Then when you have mastered those come back and put together an insightful argument, or better still leave STO for those that enjoy it, oh and when you go "can I haz yo stuff dude?"

Chris may be confused if all of his Vice Admiral ships were from free VA tokens prior to F2P. In which case, he would never have seen the C-store discount.
kbfmuaddib @ Nov 20th, 2012 4:28PM
what a joke. so KDF can HOPEFULLY get the chance of getting the 4 modules to get a fleet ship for ONLY 275 zen, since you all fracked the KDF by not giving us any ships for 1 module like you do the feds. i bought the raptor for the bio neural drone so why the heck do i have to fork over another 2000 zen to get the fleet option? ridiculous. fire devs who dont give a shyte about the KDF and maybe we will see something other than NEW federation items like the darn vesta. spent soo much time on that you had to make 3 models of it...wtfever. i continue to be a very unsatisfied KDF LTS but because i enjoy certain aspects of this game i continue to play it so naysayers who want to gripe at my opinions can just consider themselves ignored as i wont be coming back to read what anyone has to say and if your a dev, you know how to reach me...thank you.
clemfanchris
The Fed side never had any ships for 1 Module. they all have taken 4.
genfiredragons
Yes they have clemfanchris. If you have purchased a Z-Store ship you can get the fleet version of that ship with only one fleet module.

WILL PEOPLE PLEASE STOP COMPLAINING!!! You people are a bunch of whiners!
captyoung01
Call it whining, complaining, moaning, groaning, or what ever ladel you put on it. We have the right to state our disstatisfaction whether anyone likes it or not. You don't want to hear it? Then don't read those negative or whining comments.
silverfaustx
without complaining nothing ever gets fixed, or does anyone know it needs fixing..
mattjohnsonva
Wasting your breath, they love to complain, they find no joy in anything. They are part of the "I want it all, I want it now and I ain't paying Fook all!" generation.

I'm happy with this. I don't know, maybe that makes me weird, but whatever. In all seriousness though, it's just a game. There's no need to be as upset as people are.
theenigma106 @ Nov 20th, 2012 8:58AM
They just looove their goddamn money
mordaen
MMO players have become nothing short of stupid. I imagine you "looove" your money, too, because you need it to survive. Here's an idea, though. Next time you go into work, tell them that you will no longer be accepting a paycheck, and that you are going to work for free for love of the job. While I'm not a huge fan of things like lockboxes, I have enough brain cells left to realize that it's a business, not a charity. They have to make money to survive. Oh, and contrary to popular belief, MMO players do NOT have a god given right to completely free entertainment. Time to grow up.
aestu
Anyone who tries to defend these changes on the basis that PWE running the game into the ground is somehow justified is on their payroll. Period.
solochris
@aestu you need to learn taht not everyone who believes that a company doing business is somehow on that companies payroll. god I'm paranoid and even I can difarenciate taht much. aestu is probably a spy for a rival company (wow most likely) who was sent to discredit anyone who isnt against this game in an attempt to boost the number of people leaving.
kalsithra @ Nov 20th, 2012 8:23AM
What about new episodes? And the EC economy really needs to be re-balanced. I'm hemoraging EC with the reputation projects faster than I can gather it. I bearly get any loot from enemy drops that's worth anything to anyone.
cass256
I agree. I think everything should be priced at 1 EC just to tick them off. That means Fleet ship modules for 1 EC. Packs of them will cost 1 EC per item. That way everyone could get what they need. I know, the supply is going to go down with no profits to make, but who cares? People can only hod a certain amount of ships, and they have to Lvl up for it. But really, the things you can buy with EC that you can get from the Z-store (C-store or Z-store?) are just ripoffs. So join with me, AND WE CAN TICK THEM OFF. :P Everyone is just gonna say no xD

Bynars are a fed race but if you don't give them to the klinks there'd be MUCH more complaining on this thread!! Looking forward to nabbing me some Bynars!!
jniebaum @ Nov 20th, 2012 6:37AM
Meh. More money milking instead of fixing things. Figures.
mordaen
Interesting. You must have missed the entire addition of Season 7, which didn't cost anything.
brackynews
@Mordaen, to be fair to his actual words, it also hasn't fixed much. ;) Holdings UI still spectacularly broken in spots. I'm actually tired of typing /bug, it's like telling a 3 year old to colour inside the lines.
captwilhelm @ Nov 20th, 2012 3:11AM
The idea is great as always. However the price still too hogh for me. And wasn't bynars a fed race? Why their presence on the klingon version of the pack?
brackynews
Lilac skin, actually. http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Bynar I don't think there's any canon reason they can't be recruited/hired by the KDF.

"I'd just like to moan about *insert current gripe here*, I've never heard of a business making money before and I think it's just wrong. Whinge, cry, moan, blah blah, blah..." (Quoted from 90% of comment leavers) "Can I have all your stuff, please?" (Quoted from me) In other news, I like the fact that you're expanding the DOFF system to compliment fleet stuff. Adding the ship modules is just awesome! Keep up the good work.

now that's just amusing :)

Well stated. The MMORPG community has been infested with whining, entitlement-ridden children for quite a while. I don't see it getting better anytime soon, but it's good to see that there are a few out there that have a more mature outlook.

So did the drop rate for fleet DoFF's get fixed, or is the solution to make us pay via these packs?
