By PWE_BranFlakes @ January 4, 2013 at 3:30pm

Star Trek Online has won the "Best Free MMORPG 2012" award from MMORPG Center! Thank you to everyone who voted and for your continued support of STO. We can't wait for you to see what we have planned for 2013!
rankine910 @ Feb 21st, 2013 5:07PM
I just keep downloading it. When I try to play, it just says "would you like to download this game?"
duokelaan @ Jan 31st, 2013 11:00AM
Love Star Trek, and love to live it in this game. Good job Cryptic. I look forward to playing the anniversary stuff when it comes online!

A formerly, subscription based MMO, that gets, well, for lack of a better word, demoted to F2P, and then wins "Best F2P MMO" is kind of like a NFL player, who got kicked out of the NFL, and is now playing Pop Warner football. It's expected he's gonna play better than any 12 year old out there. So there you have it. STO is the Billy Madison, of MMOs. Run that up the flagpole, and salute it.
captaingthing @ Jan 28th, 2013 7:18AM
STO for me is Ying and Yang, on one side I am Ying and I love what STO potentially is trying to create and some of the content that is offered and updated (such as New Romulus). On the other side it Yang and doesn't live up to that potential. Felt this way since launch of F2P where the game became more concerned with generating cash grabs than listening to the membership players. I am a lifetime member and I constantly ask myself now, why? what did I really get for that investment?? However if the award is for trying I believe Cryptic and PWE do keep TRYING to extend beyond the boundries and deliver a good game. 100% deserved for trying to deliver a great game, but with the the bugs, errors and issues sorry but losers for execution.
araro @ Jan 24th, 2013 3:15AM
Well i just start playing the game and i love it never was a big fan of star trek but this game changed it all dunno why you al complain but if ya don't like it go play a other game and let the people who like the game play it. STO you're the best !!!
ditch122 @ Jan 23rd, 2013 4:27AM
From what I've been reading of the comments it goes both ways. I am seeing more negative comments though. I have downloaded the game, but because of login issues I can't play the game. So far I'm not impressed. I was thinking of subscribing, but I want to try the game first before I lock myself into it. If I'm having login issues now, what's to say that won't happen when I subscribe to play. I'm not going to pay for something that I can't play.
kakasholos @ Jan 21st, 2013 6:32PM
Congratulations on winning guys I'm looking forward to 2013 as well
admiralthorr360 @ Jan 20th, 2013 8:01PM
This game is far from deserving such an award. Really far from deserving such an award. Constant launcher errors, bugs, glitches, patches updates and cash grabs come out far earlier than bug fixes. They've admitted they are more concerned with the next cash-grab than fixing up after their mess. It's like not caring about sanitary environment... and continually letting your garbage pile up. Fun game, too many glitches and errors when updates hit. Any business in the real world wants their customers to experience a smooth day or experience. This company? Cryptic... "Error reading application id. Please either write it to steam_appid.txt or use the launcher!" errors like these are common place; and their response to occurrences like this? We should tolerate it. Normally I'd agree but this stuff happens on a monthly basis. If you haven't experienced problems then you likely think this game is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It truly isn't unfortunately. I hope someday STO deserves a reward; because I love the game and find it fun.... but I can't say in all honesty it deserves such a prestigious reward.

Sounds like your security is too tight on that specific machine you are having the problem with. I personally have never experienced any of the aforementioned "glitches" and I've run the game on multiple OS's over almost a years time period. I've played many free to play MMO's and this one by far is the best. Try fixing your computer issues and try again.
ditch122
So far I agree with you. I can't login at all. everytime I try it stops after I put my account name and password in. It asks me if I have a cryptic account with yes and no buttons to click but I can't click on either one to login. I'm about ready to uninstall the game and get ahold of whoever decided this was the best MMORPG of 2012 and tell them about the problems I'm having. Maybe if the people that are having the problems get in touch with them maybe they'll revise their decision about the game. I'll probably be told to change my security on my computer to play it. If I have to lower my computers security to play this game, how can it even be considered as the best MMORPG of 2012.

collinstonpwe @ Jan 19th, 2013 11:56AM
Any statement here, the STO is a good game is nonsense. Why STO fell from P2P to F2P level? In less than 2 years? Because Cryptic / PWE would not listen to their subscribers who practiced since beta criticism. Cryptic was great to cause internal strife, but never tackle the problem efficiently. Some of the statements made here are probably of very young players who are without any foundation as simply lack appropriate reference values for other good MMOs. Not mass but quality is decisive. Shop and boxes are no quality development but implied impulse purchase marketing attacks. With efficently tackeld solutions of the problems during P2P, these f2p-system attacks would never have come. Not really worthy of an award. But thank god it's an unimportant, so pleased you won it.
collinstonpwe
If STO may present its awards such as EVE Online, then we can talk about good game development, which is able to survive even under P2P. This includes both honest communication with customers and the perception of criticism of the big problems in STO. Not the constant patching of secondary lucky boxes and shop items, a re-run episode after another, instead of new stories.
scire444 @ Jan 18th, 2013 4:25PM
Good evening All. Great work STO. Now this message is for those who complain about STO, all I see in these blogs are most of the peeps that complain about STO, for goddess sake if you dont like the game dont play it mu god get a grip. Quit complaining,bo one forces you to play, Cryptic I would like to thank you for the years of enjoyment in playing STO. Thanks keep up the good work.
kittieshaufer
Did you ever stop to think that if there are so many people complaining, there might actually be something wrong? Or did you just jump on the fan wagon in hopes that it might run someone over?
nyiad
STO has made much more poor choices than positive...maybe that's why? Guess you're new here...
intrepid125 @ Jan 18th, 2013 12:27AM
star trek online is an actually good quality game that is for FrEE, they worked for that reward and along the way, made it enjoyable for us in this game. and now we have people posting negative comments about the hard working dev team of crypic, u people should be ashamed, and btw, good job cryptic

bullshit, try to win a true award by big site as xfire or steam...not this stupid site with no name in the game world...best mmorpg...with season on season an no good fix? with a game of you don't know and understand the programmation because it's of another programmers? Bullshit...the nvidia suggestion site not have your game in the list of the "best configuration setting for run this game"....best mmorpg...bullshit!:)
killeroneill @ Jan 15th, 2013 12:02PM
I must disagree with this the poll must have been rigged because i would have said SWTOR is currently the best F2P online MMORPG
cpthardcover
Yeah, how about no. SWTOR's F2P feature matrix makes PWE's fixation on lockboxes look absolutely sane.
bizzyro
SWTOR is F2P? or....Pay2Win?to much restrictions and shit.
rakitin @ Jan 15th, 2013 5:46AM
