Starbase Featured Project #12

From time to time, special projects will become available for fleets. With these special projects you can unlock new features to give your starbase more crew, more customization, and more recognizable features from Star Trek! Be quick, though – when a special project becomes available, it will only be available for a limited time. You must start the project before the end of the feature. Once you’ve started the project, though, you can keep working on it until it’s finished, even if the special event ends – but remember, you can only work on one special project at a time, so you’ll want to finish quickly to make sure that you can work on the next special feature!
Our next special feature is, "Staffing." As Federation and Klingon Defense Force fleet starbases are expanding in size and importance, more and more transports are arriving with new residents, including some that are non-sentient. In a recent transport, a group of Ferasans have moved into KDF bases, while Starfleet has sent a sentry of Exocomps to patrol their bases.
Upon completion of this special project, your starbase’s interior will gain additional population. Ferasans will appear for Klingons, while members of Starfleet will staff up with Exocomps. This special project will be available around 10AM PDT on January 17, 2013, until around 10AM PDT on January 31, 2013.

I'd pay 1k for a Dabo wheel for those days when you are just... you know... a crazy gambler who loves to see his money go down the drain... Starbase customization seems to be the big winner in all of the comments, and that the Feds need some good strong drink at their base. I'm in a big fleet (I think 350 counts as big) and I'm not sure if we will go for this or not. I think it's a kinda lame project.

Exocomps Really that is it. We have done all the Limited Time Special Projects so far but 200k dilithium for just exocomps I think we will pass on this one.

Wait a moment, Cryptic... Ferasans for KDF... and DRONES for Feds? Did you forgot we have a perfect mirror with the CAITIANS? How on Earth could you had not mind that? Or think the exocomp to be better? So it's been proved, you purposely dumb down fed starbase to give a SOP to KDF players. This thing must stop NOW. What about give us all (yes, I also play KDF) actual PLAYING content instead? And give back to feds the care you entirely skipped with Starbases.

I think it was more along the lines of they wanted to put in the Exocomps for the feds and Ferasans were the ONLY option to add for the KDF. There wasn't anything else that could be adding for the KDF so I don't really see it as any priviliged update.

Since you say you play KDF too, if you haven't noticed, there weren't any Ferasan NPCs in the Fleet Starbases,only the other races as Ferasans were added at a later point as a purchasable species. On the other hand, the Federation Starbases have had Caitian NPCs since the beggining, therefore you now get Exocomps. What you're asking is them to add something that is already there.

Mind giving smaller fleets a little ease on these? The item is purely cosmetic so the 200k price tag can be steep when you have other upgrades pending that give material benifits. ... As for the XO-Comp, given past behaviors of self preservation, group communication, and self sacrifice the argument could be made for the XO comps... and has in the past.

I agree, it should be lowered to at least 150k dil... but if your fleet does a lot of Elite STFs, you can earn a lot of dilithium.

Our fleet would love to get the optionals, they do add to the life of the starbase. But dilithium is so short these days that we're not making any progress on our tier upgrades, nevermind embassy xp projects, nevermind cosmetics. At the start of the rerun I said I hoped the price would drop to at most 100k since we now have both starbase and embassy projects to run. Now that people are spending on omega and romulan tier 5 stuff, or converting to zen while the market has crashed, it would have to be more like 10k per special project for us to take them. And that's for a fleet with about 25 active toons, I hate to think how the little fleets are coping. We're bleeding members as it is, they're off to the big fleets that can actually cope with the higher tier projects.

200k Dil is a bit much for more life. I was bummed out that the fed tribbles are rendered on the user end not server side so there can be no tribble soccer competitions.

While I like both Ferasans and xocomps, Im not sure this is worth 200k dil. I would like to know when we are going to get something with our fleet logo in the base. I would like to see our fleet logo on the outside of the base. I would pay 200k dil for that.

I would pay 200k Dilithium to customise the uniforms of my NPC's ... I'd pay 200k to have a fleet logo... but to have NPC that I can't realistically interact with ... sorry not going to happen until we run out of things that add value to the fleet to achieve ...

Muahaha! KDF are doing extremely well compared to the FEDs! Good! Now to put my feet up next to the fireplace, drink some bloodwine and watch those orion girls dancing on the table. All whilst bragging to Vice Admiral Quinn about how cool our trophy wall and stone carving looks!

I'm glad they have these projects to flesh out the starbases to have them not be quite so sterile, but gee does everything have to be so blasted much dilithium?? With a cap of only 8000 on refining it kind of makes these projects prohibitively expensive, especially if you are also trying to procure good equipment for your ship!

So, I suppose on the KDF side - if you did the 'Roaming Targs' special project - now, if your Fleet does this one you can say: ..."Targs and Cats living together - mass hysteria!"

I second on the holodeck thing!! mabey make one of the consoles at the door give you access to the foundry and the starting local for that mission is just converted to the holodeck warming up =]

Maybe the Ferasans could offer Doff assignments to aquire Ferasan Duty Officers and the Exocomps could give assignments for Exocomp duty officers. This would give at least some functionality to it.

A featured project that allowed a fleet to determine their base's speciality would be nice. As it stands right now, all bases are the same. How about a featured project that allowed a fleet to choose whether to be a tactical outpost, a specilized shipyard or an R

Meh got cut off. I was saying R and D facility. With each specilization unlocking unique bonues. This would give people a reason to visit other bases and allow fleets to customize their facility.
