3-Year Anniversary Ships

In honor of Star Trek Online’s 3rd Year Anniversary, we are resurrecting retired ship designs from prior eras for use by Captains of 2409. While some might be tempted to call these ships dated by the standards of more modern starships, their classic hull configurations and resilient internal specifications allow them to remain strong front-line contenders in any deep space exploration assignment or armed conflict.
Support Cruiser – Ambassador Class
The U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701-C) was the most famous Ambassador class starship ever commissioned by Starfleet. It was destroyed in battle in 2344 while protecting the Klingon colony on Narendra III from a Romulan attack, and all hands were presumed to be killed in action. This valorous sacrifice bought the Federation several decades of peace with the Klingon Empire.
Ambassador class vessels were later used in the Battle of Wolf 359 and throughout the Dominion War.

Kamarag Battle Cruiser

The Kamarag class was first designed in the mid-24th century, but only a few prototype vessels were built. After problems were found in the ship's power transfer systems, the design was shelved. Empire engineers later created the mighty Vor'cha battle cruiser.
Now that the Klingon Empire and its allies are looking for new ships, a team at the Ty'Gokor shipyards has revisited the Kamarag class. Its power problems were easily solved by modern EPS systems, and the Kamarag was reimagined as a mid-sized vessel that can be tougher than a Bird-of-Prey but more maneuverable than a Battle Cruiser.

I personally think this game is AWESOME!!. I love the variety of ships as well as the numorous customizations you can do with them. The story lines are great and keep me busy. I'm a Star Trek fan myself and I must admit that STO are on to something great. Yes, there are a couble of bugs here and there, but they have always fixed them. This game will definitely last. My advice to those who don't like this game and have nothing but bad things to say about it? Do those of us who like this game and who created this game and favor and suffer in silence or just plan log off. You have that right. You always have. Exercise it. Let others enjoy the game dispite the fact that you don't.
bioevil @ Feb 18th, 2013 1:33AM
the mission never work for me to get it
okars @ Feb 17th, 2013 5:25PM
Hi there just wanted to say HELLO to all FANS of STO and to its CREATORS!...i havnt been playing long and i know i can be a slogg at times and theres still so much stuff to learn and understand but ive noticed alot of negative comments from "so Called fans" and im sure probably alot of them might be valied!.. but still im sure it takes a great deal of effort on behalf of its creators to keep something like this going. to members who are paying real money to access everything im sure you might be right to complain but to most who are on the silver package like me, i think its fantastic and i cant help but think that while constructive critisium is useful, down right slagging off and dissing everything and throwing insults around will only end up depressing its creators and maintainers and then it will be no more!!!! so please contructive imput GREAT! dissing off something your supposed to love NOT SO GREAT!... in a massive online game like this im sure there are and will be problems and issues. My apologies if this sounded like a rant everyone
bbaetens @ Feb 15th, 2013 6:26AM
Oh cool more useless "free" ships! looks like we get the crapy ships for free eh! yeah yeah i know i'm a .... who cares i'm not even gonna log in and do the what ever you need to do to get the ships! heck they can't even fix my "Can't decompress error" i get all the time. stupid file handling system this game has, totally crap. anyways fanboys will love this probably so that's good for them i guess. and Congratz to cryptic to even make it to year 3, had no idea they would even make it this far with that bug infested game of them! to darn many Star Trek Fan Boys on the world. to keep them for scrapping this game. sadly i "was" one of them, but came to my senses and eventually more will and wen that day comes, STO will be no more. and all of you will lose the nice eye candy "virtual" ships.
philipalexander @ Feb 11th, 2013 4:59AM
I would just like to say, Thank you Denise Crosby for coming back and giving us a real treat. :) And thank you STO for giving us the Ambassador class. Not everyone is at end game and not everyone is a power gamer. For those wanting character, nostalgia and kudos, the Ambassador is a wonderful treat. The Ambassador was always a glaring oversight - especially as the Constitution, Miranda and Excelesiour were featured - and now it is here. THANK YOU! (Ignore the whiners. You give them a free priveleged treat, almost on a par with the Excelsior, for doing nothing but play through a simple story - they've not had to pay for it, they've not had to die seven times in a gruelling meatgrinder, you've basically just given it to them - and they still whine? Pathetic really. I for one appreciate your classy gesture. Thank you) .
bbaetens
they don't have to pay... yep true one may wonder what about the people that do pay for the game, you know the players that keep this game going! so that F2P players can play and get a free ship! what other players "payed" for.! you call em whiners, i call em angry investors! anyways "fanboys" always gonna say its good and people with a clear mind will always see the downfall in things, lucky for STO there are far more fanboys on this world that STO will probably last for ever.
treeslut @ Feb 7th, 2013 4:11PM
This game is almost a replica of WoW, just like how the horde is vastly overpowered compared to the alliance in WoW, the federation is vastly underpowered compared to the klingons, this game is so one sided the federation is just meat for the klingons to attack.
syfyguy64
Well, if the stats are correct, a few million ships should keep them at bay... Unless someone exploits, and opens esd to the Klingons.
r1s2s3 @ Feb 5th, 2013 4:52PM
Please, someone know if after the three-year anniversary, i'll lose my tier 5 Retrofit ship ??
aserila
No, you keep the mission ship ,but lose the change to get the mission once the event ended.
johnyflash23 @ Feb 5th, 2013 9:52AM
ok this is what i think, the fed ship is trash. it has a poor turn rate but it look cool. the kdf ship is awsome it turns like a escort, hits harder, and looks awsome for get the fed get the KDF ship
johnyflash23
ok iwlii asy this also the misson is fun :-)
dannyjake1985 @ Feb 5th, 2013 9:21AM
Look guy just be happy its a free ship!!!!!
bbaetens
Hope that you have room for your free ship or the "free" ship will cost yah more ship slots!! just saying ^^
herbsta @ Feb 5th, 2013 7:51AM
i tried to do this mission - when i got to the part where you pilot the enterpise c it just shows empty nothing graphic - very annoying - is there anyway to fix this? id like to be able to see my ship
bbaetens
you ask them to fix things? ... there still bugs in game that came with the launch of this "great" game, and you ask a fix for this new bug :D what do you think!
r1s2s3 @ Feb 5th, 2013 2:11AM
STO is the best f2p game ever ^^ but i need to know if after the three-year anniversary, i'll lose my tier 5 Retrofit ship ??
bbaetens
Best F2P game ever! i take it you have not played other games right?! OR your a major fanboy, in case of fanboy i shut-up now cus you probably get angry at me :D **Continue reading if your not a fanboy** There plenty of F2P games, World of Tanks is a great game, Guildwars2 "ok it has a cost but that's once and totally worth it", Lineage2 ... you know there a few more but can't write them all down here :D use Google.
aserila @ Feb 5th, 2013 1:51AM
While I do like this ambassador ship, I do wish it had a tenth console slot, as then it would be more of an equal to the new ships being released, part from the issue, I think it a wonderful model. any chance of the refit variant coming out..as it looks slightly different
uaine1 @ Feb 2nd, 2013 9:15PM
i enjoyed the mission, may play it again later just for the heck of it,
drvonplitt @ Feb 2nd, 2013 12:15AM
It's lame that you have to be a commander to get these ships. I'm only a lieutenant and I didn't realize there was a restriction on the rank. I enjoyed the mission, but was a bit dissapointed when I finished the mission and didn't get the ship.
mattmiracle
If you got the mission and completed it, you got the ship. You cannot use it until you hit Commander and Rear Admiral, but you DO have the ships. This is the same for any other free ship (aka, you cant have the Galaxy until you hit captain). Once you hit level 20, you can unpack the commander ship and start to fly it.
gulshaddai
@mattmiracle, So I should be able to play these ships consecutively? unpack the commander ship when at that level and the Rear Admiral one when at that level? Have to say I'm fairly happy with that.
rakija879 @ Feb 1st, 2013 6:55AM
OMG the ships are awesome gj devs :)
nyiad @ Feb 1st, 2013 6:17AM
Wonder when those who want a Typhoon or Jupitor will get one in STO haha. As far as the "new" ships go, I doubt I'll even open then, had to make room in my banks, but this doesn't seem to be worth buying a ship slot for.
aleksanderwolf @ Feb 1st, 2013 2:14AM
its not a bad free ship really , the ambassador , but its just a dread without the lance ... but is still fun to muck about in :P
allarian210 @ Feb 1st, 2013 12:11AM
Ugh, I totally spelled compare wrong.
allarian210 @ Feb 1st, 2013 12:10AM
Blacksheeple, your assumption is quite incorrect. I am pleased with a great number of ships in the game, however, the Ambassador class was not a simple exploration cruiser and was, in fact, designed and created at a time when the Federation was in open war with the Klingons. I am also quite unhappy with the total lack of a true tactical cruiser on the Federation side. At the very least this thing should be given and increased turn rate, but technically speaking beam banks or beam arrays CANNOT compair in sheer firepower to Dual or Dual Heavy Cannons. There is no true tactical cruiser available for the Feds other than the Regent, a Zen store ship, and two fleet cruisers which require either a Tier 3 shipyard and 2500 zen or a Tier 5 shipyard and 2000 zen. And the regent doesn't really make the grade as a tactical cruiser other than the Lt. Commander tactical officer.
zeuxidemus001
The iconic Star Trek Federation ships are beautiful to look at but compared to the mostly KDF characters I have for the game they better fit for combat... I just find beside the fed escorts the KDF ships are more fun to play... If they did some work on the functionality of the fed ships I might be more interested in playing them.
neithan80
The Breen ship I got during the Winter event is a really nice tac cruiser you can use as fed, but then you could only get it during that event.. ;)
breadandcircuses @ Jan 31st, 2013 11:48PM
Awww, really disappointed by the turn rate, considering the Ambassador-class had "a lot more maneuverability than the Romulan counterparts of that era." Just what exactly were these Romulan counterparts, and and did they actually have maneuvering thrusters or an impulse drive installed? I know, it's free, but the thing turns slower than an equivalent heavy cruiser!
captyoung01
I agree.
distretti @ Jan 31st, 2013 10:54PM
I have dreamed of this, and my own TOS romulan bird of prey. This answered my prayers.. I now own one of every Enterprise but the Timeship J. Sucky or not, I'll be flying mine proudly.
nyiad
Not to be a jerk...but the Enterprise J wasn't a timeship. It was simply a Universe Class starship which was in the future that Archer was shown.
bluediameter @ Jan 31st, 2013 7:52PM
Fun little mission, good stuff! Not a bad ship either. 36,000 Hull, 4 weapons fore and aft. Sure can't complain!
sonyv762 @ Jan 31st, 2013 5:07PM
Congratulations Cryptic, on three years of fun and escape. It would be nice to have enough server capacity to handle all the folks trying to log on right now. I'm sure it will all even out... eventually. The ships look nice. I'm looking forward to trying the new mission. Thanks for the new content.
trappedinwv @ Jan 31st, 2013 1:59PM
Ok not sure if you know this, but as far as exploration goes, there was this ENTIRE series based on a STARBASE, guess what, they don't go off exploring they just sit there, now im not saying they didn't explore from time to time, but the draw of the show was the war with the changlings.
blacksheeple
" Make the base turn the same as the Klingon ship and add the ability to equip cannons" Big LOL from me for comments like this, here are some Peopel that will never be pleasend with anything. In the moment it is a strange abnormality in the game that Peopel want cannons for every F***ing ship in the Game. By the Way i like the Ambassador, better then another Alien Lock Box Ship
