New Fleet Ships Available
By PWE_BranFlakes @ February 14, 2013 at 2:00pm

The Yamaguchi and K’maj classes of Fleet Ships are now available to fleets in-game.
The Yamaguchi Class, a fleet variant of the Ambassador Support Cruiser Retrofit, can be requisitioned by Federation Vice Admirals and The K’maj Class, a fleet variant of the Kamarag Battle Cruiser Retrofit, can be requisitioned by Klingon Lieutenant Generals. Each ship can be purchased individually for 20,000 Fleet Credits and four (4) Fleet Ship Modules from a Tier 3 Fleet Shipyard, and boasts increased Hull Hit Points, Shield Strength, an additional Science Console Slot, a Lt. Universal station in lieu of a Lt. Engineering station, and a unique Fleet Material.
More details about both ships, including stats, can be found in this Dev Blog.

REALLY!!!!! and I just got the enterprise-D.
journey56 @ Feb 28th, 2013 8:50AM
I think the klingon ship looks a bit un-natural, and the fed ship has a wierd hull colouring. The fed ship should have another 1 point on its turn rate too.
ninjapwnagez321 @ Feb 27th, 2013 4:41PM
That's why I don't bother with lockboxes. I just buy Z-Store ships, and if I DO buy keys, it's only to sell them for 1.4 mil on the Exchange. I have enough fun without playing rigged Chinese bingo for box ships.
phaggamemnon @ Feb 24th, 2013 10:33PM
No it's a bug the scam artists at Perfect world want you to open 150 boxes for their chinese bingo.. it's such a rip off.. they need to get sued ...
ussenterprisea1 @ Feb 23rd, 2013 2:28PM
i thought the new fed. ship was called NX class.

JCP26, what areyou talking about,i ran into a guy with a fleet AMBASSADOR, with 58,000 hull points mine has almost 52,00 not a fleet, i can handle borg stf's in elite mode, im running dual polaron beambanks, quantum torpedo's, it does fine, holds up well, this is what the GALAXY CLASS REAFIT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. Ambassador is a fine ship, running in tatical, or other it will serve you well. I run the jem hadar set, and its very dangerous.
spencerb96
Indeed, the Fleet Ambassador is one of the best ships I've ever flown. I can take on a cube in eSTFs easily. The fleet version is very powerful, I already logged it at 6k DPS. That's with a science captain. I imagine it could easily pull a bit more with a tac.
rocket633 @ Feb 21st, 2013 11:32AM
All I have been getting out of the Dominion lockboxes are personnel packs, I have unlocked probibly 40 of the dang things, and havent gotten a ship yet. Is this a bug or what?
goaheadandsmoke @ Feb 21st, 2013 7:35AM
Honestly i cant say ne thing bad i am glad to see the new ships and i dont care about account bind on items either. I love the look of the embasaador. But fact of the matter is they gave us fleets and the all the resources like dilithium goes into rep system i notice all fleet functions drop since season 7. Its hard to build a fleet to tier 5 when all your dilithium is going to get rep gear you allready should have/. your reward for running 20 elites in a day.. well with that said i love this game live long and prosper all
jcp26 @ Feb 21st, 2013 6:18AM
I've said once and I'll say it again, Ambassadors belong in a MUSEUM! Not on the Front Lines. I put my Odyssey Tactical in dry dock yesterday due to its slow speed and maneuverability. I tried out my Ambassador Retrofit. The Ambassador is faster and more maneuverable than the Odyssey, but her firepower and durability is significantly worse. I took all of the weapons and equipment from the Odyssey and put it on the Ambassador Retrofit. With the exact same weapons and gear, the Odyssey Tactical can engage and eliminate a Borg Cube on an Elite level STF without any additional support. The Ambassador barely did any damage at all. It was the first time I needed aid in destroying a Cube. The Odyssey may be slower than the Ambassador, but she is a powerful and durable beast. Odyssey's to the front, and Ambassadors to the museums.

Are they leaving the temporal ambassador in the game still or are there plans for it ebcuas ei'm going to get the ship still.

isn't the top ship the class of the NCC-1701-C?
wimpoman
Yes.
ussenterprisea1
What happened to it?
veepnova
No. The Enterprise was destroyed before the advancments of the Yamaguchi were implemented onto the ships. The newer Ambassadors were more advanced.
jcp26
Wolf 359. Yamaguchi meets Borg Cube. Not much of a chance to show off how much more advanced she wsa from her older sister NCC 1701-C. They both go boom.

The Yamaguchi was destroyed at Wolf 359 before it could demonstrate how advanced it was.

at the time it was built, the enterprise-C ambassador class was the top of the line heavy cruiser, BUT the enterprise-C responded to a klingon distress call from a klingon station, being attacked by 4 romulan warbirds.....the enterprise-C engaged and was summarily destroyed with all handed presumed lost. this great loss and bravery in coming to the aid of the klingons brokered peace for many years.

The U.S.S. Yamaguchi is a Yamaguchi class Federation Cruiser and prototype of her class. Following its commission, the Yamaguchi is the representative of her class in the ship selection screen. The Yamaguchi bears the same registry as her Ambassador class predecessor, which was among the ships lost during the Battle of Wolf 359 in 2367.
fordguy2 @ Feb 18th, 2013 9:11AM
I love the AMBASSADOR class, granted shes not a the firepower, of a escort, but she does combine, shield, firepower, not a fleet true, but you can still modify her to be a nasty ship, love the looks very tradiitonal ship of STARFLEET, finally you see it in a game, nice to see her.

Actually the ships you get from lockboxes are also underperforming POS ships. Everybody spends a fortune to get them, builds them out, uses them for a couple of weeks in the STFs and then they disappear when people find that they the stats on the ships are inferior. I'm not a fan of lockboxes in any case. I'll buy a ship for Zen if its superior directly from the store but I won't farm lockboxes, gambling to get it. I agree with a previous poster, dreadnought s seriously need a retrofit and a fleet retrofit versions that aren't jokes like the current one is. All the looks and nice effects are great, but if the stats aren't there, don't bother spending your development resources cranking out yet another POS.
ebrithil1
The easy way to get a lockbox ship is to simply buy it off the exchange for EC. Which you can get by selling the Master Keys, or farming missions.
lefty4284 @ Feb 16th, 2013 3:23AM
I used to play starfleet command back in the day. 1st and best star trek game of its day. I can remember getting the dreadnought ship which was in the 23rd century but still. it had dual hauls, i think 4 engines 2 necks. It was a massive huge cool looking ship which tons of fire power. This ship would be perfect to be a federation carrier. i don't know what trek history says or if u can have the copy rights to do it but it should be about the fans and players on the game. How about making this ship or a new class twist being a carrier and it can only be excluisive for use like maybe a pvp or a scenerio that would really require such a ship in a episode series. Have full out battle carrier dreadnaught battles against another of maybe another race? ( Klingon, Romulan, Ect) it would be nice to start seeing ships of fire power like that come into play. i mean really, we have the enterprise B which has 8 weapons slots total and that was late 23rd, pretty sure we are 100 years latter and we come out with ships that still have 8 slots, We want more Slots and more ships and better scenerios. Your on the right track Cryptic, just not there yet
captyoung01
heh, if you wanna go that route, I modded out a Constitution Refit Class Dreadnought for Star Trek Legacy that would be prefect in this game.

New fleet ships are nice, but how about adding more mod. to all the ships, like warp cores, console slots, device slots, or the ability to upgrade and mod. the Boff slots, or add weapon slots or classifications. Because I'd wouldn't mind dumping Zen, EC, or Dilithium and resources on those options.
zarek01
I second that. I think it'd be cool to modify the warp core, expand console slots, even add secondary equippment slots (e.g., secondary shields/engines/[for sci ships, deflectors]) which could give a portion of their normal (primary) stats to a ship.
breadandcircuses
I like this idea as well. Having warp cores that altered the basic power distributon could make for more variety in how different ships performed, and make some of the old ones more playable. Additional consoles tend to be the realm of lockbox and c-store ships, but modified console and boff loadouts would be wonderful (even if it turns out to be one MORE thing consuming dilithium, which I would expect any modification of an existing ship to require).
darramouss1 @ Feb 15th, 2013 6:19AM
Hello new fleet ships, goodbye fleet marks. What Cryptic giveth, it taketh away. 10 fold.
a2754 @ Feb 15th, 2013 4:04AM
What I am concerned about is not the fact that new ships are coming out *Great by the way* as it is further making being in a fleet worth something by adding fleet content even if it's just ships. My concern is the fact that the tier 5 ships are starting to look like tier 2 ships (i.e Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier) with all the new ships you are bringing out. Further to this I am not a fan of the consoles and the various items in the game being "Character Bound" which is highly upsetting as if you make a new Character on the FED side or the (Lack of Content - Currently) KDF you are forced to get a console or item all over again when you could make these items "Account Bound" which would make things better for your players. I am a Life Time Member and I am not to thrilled at the amount of things in this game that are "Bound" but I understand the "Account Bound" items to an extent, but the "Character Bound" items are annoying (in lieu of using profanity). I ask that you correct this especially if you want to truly improve your game beyond the obvious being adding more content especially for level 50 players and of course "Fleet" ships/content (i.e STF's). I look forward to getting rid of the "Character Bound" idea in favor of "Account Bound" or better yet...get rid of the "bound" idea all together.
thevandall
I 100% agree with a2754 above. We need a lot more "account bound" stuff. I understand the desire to make lobi crystals character bound (as there are some folks with way too much time would create alts to farm the five free lobi), but the lobi item themselves should be account bound.
eisaakaz
poor poor a2754, welcome to Perfect Worlds idea of MMO. Let me start by saying that STO has been around for 3 years now, so it isn't "lock of content - currently". The KDF side has never been developed and at this point most likely never will. The reason things are character bound is to force you to spend more. Making Fleet ships makes you spend more on your fleet. Yes there are ways to do it all within game but they know a pecentage are going to "buy their commissions", in fact I believe in the future you find more things pushed to high in fleet items. You will find ships with less consoles and more things will be placed in lockboxes... which is their cashcow. Perfect World is not worried about what makes you happy, it is about what makes you pay to play! so get use to it.
a2754
I understand that Eisaakaz, but they can do the same thing with an "Account Bind" that they can do with a "Character Bind". I also know that they need to make money, and I have no issue with that because no money = no game BUT on the same token if you ignore your customers you'll find yourself without them really quick. Now Lobi Crystals I can agree with being "Character Bound" but Consoles, Weapons and such...what's the point...I mean yeah make money but don't be stingy with your customers. You get more flies with honey then you do with salt my friend. Let Perfect World/Cryptic make their money which they need to do, but I think switching items from "Character Bound" to "Account Bound" isn't going to hurt their bottom line....infact it might get more people back to the game that have left as well as attract more to it. Also a side note...they need more story content especially on the KDF side because there's only so many ships you can throw at someone till they get tired of doing the same thing but in a different ship. So in closing if Perfect World wants me to "Pay to Play" then give me a reason to....don't put icing on a crap cake and expect me to eat it.
lestral @ Feb 15th, 2013 3:16AM
Owning a few of the top end Fleet ships, I can't see why I'd buy a Fleet version of the Ambassador. It's performance and stats will be inferior to what I'm already flying. This seems to be a pattern of releasing yet more POS fleet ships that give an underwhelming response when people attempt to use them in something like STF. I have to wonder why you continue to waste your time and resources building more. Either stop building them and focus on other parts of the game or give us REAL high end ships.
paragon92518
That's EXACTLY what I have been trying to convey to players the last 4-5 days. If you own a Fleet Excelsior, there's NO REASON to buy the Ambassador...unless you have excess money or modules to waste --- as it IS an inferior ship to Excelsior. You are right. This is nonsense.
eisaakaz
I agree 100%. I would love to see a retool or "retrofit" of the Dreadnaught. Year One it was the king of the battlefield. The Stupid Ambassador almost outperforms it. But Perfect World has made it clear, they want you buying lockoxes. That is their bread and butter and they keep putting all the goodies just out of reach and can control the game more with lockboxes. Since we are in year three of a bloody Borg War we should start seeing some real down and dirty combat criusers for both Factions come into play. But Perfect World will continue to force us into a lockbox/dilithium world where they can profit from the game....
